A very large percentage of people are living in rented accommodation up and down the UK. Most of this rental is on short term leases for 6 or 12 months. The tenant has to put down large sums as a deposit before being able to occupy the property. To secure the return of this deposit at the end of the tenancy the property must be returned to the agents or landlord in the same condition as when it was taken over.

Many tenancy agreements now have in their clauses that at the end of the agreement the tenant will have the property professionally cleaned.
The Uk differs significantly from the USA in this respect because it appears that in the USA tenants simply up and leave and the new tenant is responsible for the clearing and cleaning up.

Even if it is not written into the contract it is always a good idea to have your property professionally cleaned, that way you are virtually ensuring that you will get your deposit returned without any problems unless of course you have damaged the property in some way.
